A SEX pest has been released on bail with stringent conditions after a judge expressed concern about the safety of youngsters where he lives.

Mark Bolton had admitted two charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child and two of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The 49-year-old's lawyer, Molly Pinkus, said he would benefit from professional guidance.

Judge Michael Lawson, QC, said: "My concern is not so much his general education or abilities but the safety of young people in the area where he lives."

The judge ordered that Bolton be under 8pm to 8am curfew, live with his mother in Coxheath, and make himself available if a police officer should call.

Maidstone Crown Court heard two boys, aged 10 and 12, were approached by Bolton on June 23 last year and agreed to go with him to an orchard.

Deborah Charles, prosecuting, said Bolton, lying on a haystack, exposed himself. Both boys left and reported the matter to their mothers. Bolton was bailed on condition he did not have contact with under 16s.

On October 30, Bolton approached two boys, aged 14, and asked questions of a sexual nature. He asked if they wanted £20. Bolton was arrested for breaking his bail condition.

Sentence was adjourned until May 13. Bolton was ordered not to approach under 18s.
