Little Max Walsh has been told his legs are deteriorating so badly he will be in a wheelchair permanently by the time he is 13.

But now the seven-year-old and his family have been given hope of a life-changing operation - if they can raise £43,000.

Max, from Strood, suffers from cerebral palsy, which is causing him to lose the use of his legs.

A hospital in Missouri, America, has experts in nerve surgery who say they can prevent further damage being done and save Max's ability to walk.

The Twydall Juniors pupil is now inspiring a fundraising campaign, which includes sporting events, a parachute jump and money collections.

His mum Nicole said: "Most Christmases Max has asked for a new pair of legs so he can do what other kids do. If he has this operation he'll be able to walk quite normally."
