Students forced to leave school over grades 'gaffe'

FIVE teenagers have been turfed out of school for not having good enough grades, just 10 days after being accepted back into the sixth form.

The boys were all asked not to return two weeks into their new courses at Robert Napier School, Gillingham.

The pupils had not achieved the grades they had hoped for in their GCSEs but were accepted back into Year 12 to study their chosen BTEC courses.

All five began lessons and signed contracts to say they would attend lessons. These agreements also said the boys would be given a six-week trial to prove they could succeed on the course.

The pupils are now going to the Connexions career advisory service for help on what to do next.

Paul Jackson, deputy head teacher at the Robert Napier School, said: “Connexions and the school are talking to them about what similar courses are available at a more suitable level.

“This will help them to move onto their desired course in the future.”
