Suspected car-jacker arrested near Dover

A suspected car-jacker has been charged after allegedly arranging to meet a seller - and then making off with his motor.

Police said the alleged victim, from Thanet, had advertised his Range Rover Vogue in the national press.

It's claimed a buyer contacted him yesterday and arranged to meet at Ramsgate railway station for a test drive at around 3.25pm.

But it’s claimed the owner was thrown from the top of the range vehicle as the prospective buyer drove off.

He suffered grazes to his hands, knees and arms, but was not badly injured.

The car was then found abandoned in the car park of the Plough pub and restaurant at West Hougham, near Dover.

A man was arrested a short time afterwards at 4.05pm.

This morning, Jeetendra Parekh, 40, of Stokepoges Lane, Slough, Berkshire, was charged with robbery, driving while disqualified and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

He was remanded in custody and is due in court today.
