A man accused of manslaughter after an alleged bust-up in Birchington has appeared at court.

Paul Howarth, 52, died at the QEQM Hospital in Margate two days after the incident in Stone Barn Avenue on April 9.

Mark Cable, of Stone Barn Avenue, was at first remanded in custody but Judge Jeremy Carey granted him bail at Maidstone Crown Court last week.

Mr Howarth, who also lived in the village, allegedly suffered a fatal injury after falling to the ground from a single blow.

Cable, 46, will return to court on June 14 to enter a plea to the charge. A provisional trial date was set for July 26.

Bail was granted with conditions that Cable lived at an address in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, and did not enter Margate.
