A planned revamp of the park in Maidstone Road saw three new businesses move into what was once Toys R Us.

These included an Aldi supermarket and Home Bargains. A KFC drive-thru was also added to the park.

However, one of the units remains empty despite plans being approved for a UFC Gym, an American brand of a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fitness centres.

Now JD Gyms has come forward to take over the unit and has asked Medway Council if it could also add a swimming pool to the already-approved plans.

This will not be the only branch of the gym in the Medway Towns, as the company recently opened a gym at Hempstead Valley shopping centre near Gillingham.

The authority’s planning department is expected to make a decision on the plans by Monday, August 8.
