A teenager has been jailed for stabbing a boy in his thigh, back and buttock.

Jermaine Cole, of Lambeth Close, Chatham, was handed three years behind bars after admitting wounding with intent.

The 18-year-old had used a knife to stab his victim, also aged 18 and from Rochester, three times.

Maidstone Crown Court heard the attack happened in the park next to Laburnum Road in Strood on May 14 last year.

Police said it followed a row between a group of people who were known to each other.

Detective Constable Julie McNeil, of Kent Police, said: "This was a senseless act of violence which could have had much more serious consequences.

"We are pleased with the sentence given and hope that it acts as a deterrent to others who are considering carrying knives.

"Kent Police does not condone the use of violence at any level. Those who do carry knives to commit crime will be brought to justice."
