Tesco recalls butters amid food poisoning fears

Tesco has recalled some of its flavoured butters over concerns they could be contaminated with a food poisoning bug.

The Food Standards Agency said the butters may have traces of a bacteria which can cause illness among vulnerable people like pregnant woman and babies.

It can cause a serious infection and lead to conditions such as meningitis.

The affected products are Tesco Chocolate Chip and Maple Syrup Butter 100g, Tesco Red Chilli and Lemon Butter 100g, Tesco Roast Garlic and Herb Butter 100g and Tesco Three Peppercorn Butter 100g as well as the complimentary Counters Roast Garlic and Herb Butter Discs 10g, Counters Peppercorn Butter Discs 10g and Counters Chilli Butter Discs 10g.
