Boyband The Wanted have been chatting to Garry and Claire on kmfm Breakfast about their new single and greatest hits album.

Speaking on kmfm, Siva said: "It's so nice to be back. Some things have changed but a lot is the same. It's really nice to catch up with the boys again and have a laugh."

The new single titled Rule the World is out now.

Max, who wrote the track, described it as 'very dancey and upbeat' adding: "It's about being the best that you can be.

"I've always found the best I can be is when I'm with people so the inspiration is that you don't have to do things alone."

The band first found fame in 2010 after releasing their self-titled debut album.

They achieved 10 UK top 10 singles, two UK number ones, and three studio albums before taking a break in 2014.

Chatting with Garry and Claire, the boys shared stories from their time in the spotlight including the time they were invited to the Beckham's house in LA for one of their children's parties.

Jay said: "We went to the most insane party ever where there were loads of incredibly privileged LA kids doing private go-karting sessions and we just spent a little bit of time with them on the track and gave them a guitar.

"We aren't naive to the fact that was bonkers and it was just one of those days, like when we met Obama, where you think 'I'm not taking this for granted.'"

The former president's daughter was a huge fan of The Wanted so the boys were invited to one of the former First Lady's Easter parties at the White House.

They were taken on a private tour where they visited every room including the underground bowling alley.

The Wanted first discussed getting back together in early 2020 to celebrate their 10th anniversary but the pandemic brought plans to a halt.

Then came the devastating news that Tom had been diagnosed with a brain tumour just months before the birth of his second child.

He decided to turn a personal tragedy into something positive and made a documentary for Channel 4 and Stand Up To Cancer titled ‘Tom Parker - Inside My Head’ to raise awareness of the tell-tale signs of the disease and to explore new treatments and research.

Despite the hiatus, the band today still boasts almost six million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Next month a greatest hits album 'Most Wanted' will be released on November 12 and the band will also take part in a special 12-date Arena tour of the UK in March 2022.

They are hoping to get fans to vote for which songs they want to hear the most.
