Thousands make Thanet Pride huge success

Rainbow hues dazzled in the sunshine as Margate opened its arms to welcome some 10,000 people to the second Thanet Pride.

Visitors attended from all over Britain to help make the day a great success.

They built on the success of last year’s event aimed at the gay, lesbian, transvestite, bisexual and crossdressing community.

A parade went from the Winter Gardens to the main stage on Margate seafront.

Horace Hotman, one of the organisers, said the day had surpassed expectations.

He said: “The highlight was seeing so many people coming to Margate and having a really good day."
