The national weather service predicts the weather in Kent will be generally cloudy with scattered showers, sometimes heavy with a chance of thunder.

There is a risk that the showers could become prolonged, and locally very heavy, especially across southeastern areas.

According to the Met Office, some thunderstorms are possible with gusty weather predicted over the Channel coast.

However, showers will move away eastwards this evening with clear spells to follow.

Elsewhere, a red weather warning remains in place in parts of eastern Scotland which is bearing the brunt of Storm Babet and flooding.

No flood alerts are currently in place in Kent.
