The Who’s bass guitarist Pino Palladino, Hamish Stuart and X Factor’s Ben Mills are among musicians performing at a festival at the Three Mariners in Oare this weekend.

Hamish, who has just come back from touring the US with Ringo Starr, has put together the line-up and will headline the weekend with his Average White Band.

On Sunday evening, he will be taking the stage to play some of his greatest hits such as Pick Up The Pieces which reached number one in the singles chart in the US.

Three Mariners landlady Claire Houlihan says there could be some surprise special guests.

“At previous gigs held at The Mariners, Hamish has pulled in capacity crowds and with his current circle of friends there may even be a few famous faces in the audience,” she said.

Crowds are expected for JimJam made up of Jim Mullen, Pino, Ian Thomas and Hamish, while the AllStars who recently released an album All About the Music have promised to come.

Festival goers can use Gist’s car park and there will be a beer tent as well as a barbecue, hog roast and wine tent.

The weekend kicks off at noon on Saturday and finishes at 9pm on Sunday.

Tickets cost £15 for one day in advance, £25 for the weekend. The cost is £18 and £30 on the day.
