Highways bosses say the trailer on the rear of the truck became separated from the vehicle between Junction 5 at Westerham and Junction 6 at Godstone.

They believe those travelling along the route face being delayed for as long as 90 minutes.

A National Highways spokesman said: "Three lanes - of four - are closed due to a lorry that has broken down.

The trailer from the lorry became separated from the cab. The vehicles have now been recovered.

"There are nine miles of congestion on the approach."
