Train services set to be cancelled on Sunday morning due to strong winds and rain

Anyone planning to travel by rail on Sunday morning may want to re-think their plans - as trains are likely to be cancelled.

Southeastern says it expects services "on most routes" before 10am to be halted due to strong winds and rain forecast for the weekend.

The firm says there is likely to be disruption while Network Rail ensures the tracks are clear of debris and fallen trees.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for gales gusting up to 65 mph accompanied by heavy rain across the county.

Forecasters say 20 to 30mm of rain could fall within a six to 12 hour period - enough to cause surface flooding in some parts of the county.

Coastal regions will see the highest wind speeds with gusts up to 60-65 mph possible, with inland areas experiencing gales of 45-55 mph.
