Trapped calf freed by fire crew

FIREFIGHTERS were called to free a calf after her head became stuck between two tree branches. One pump went to Hill Green Road, Stockbury, near Sittingbourne, after a farmer noticed the calf trapped in a neighbouring field owned by the Kent Wildlife Trust.

A brigade spokesman said later:"The calf had got its head between the "V" of two tree stems. Crew members, who were at the scene for an hour, used a strap which they keep on the appliance to lift the front quarters of the calf so that her head could be freed.

He added: "After that she ran back to her mum."
