Two brothers have admitted their part in a conspiracy to supply drugs and mobile phones at a Sheppey prison.

Twins Christopher and Richard Hill were warned they faced "significant" jail sentences.

Christopher Hill, of Ann Boleyn Close, Eastchurch, and Richard Hill, of Unity Street, Sheerness, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply drugs of A, B and C at Swaleside between April 1 last year and June 2 this year.

They also admitted conspiracy to take mobile phones into the prison between April 1 and June 2 this year.

The 21-year-old twins will be sentenced with Tyrone Woolley, 27, from Hounslow, Middlesex, who previously admitted the charges, on October 3.

Woolley is serving life, with an 18-year minimum term, for a murder committed in January 2003.

Barry Myers, for Richard Hill, said his client had worked in Swaleside and applied to become a prison officer. His brother had worked there for some time.

"They are now looking probably at lengthy custodial sentences," he said. "Both have been in custody for several months."

Requesting reports, he added: "One cannot give a personal opinion on how these young men have got themselves into this grave situation."

Remanding them in custody, Judge David Griffith-Jones, QC, at Maidstone Crown Court, stressed reports would only assist with the length of imprisonment to be imposed.
