KENT Police are continuing their investigation into a crash in which a boy of seven and his father died.

The tragedy happened when the pair were travelling in an orange Mini along the A228 at Malmaynes Hall Road, Stoke, near Rochester, on Saturday at about 8.40pm.

Their vehicle was in collision with a red Rover. When police arrived at the scene they found the Rover had been abandoned. Inquiries revealed that two males had left that vehicle.

Police say the 27-year-old father died at the scene. His son was taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Both are believed to be from the Isle of Grain, near Rochester, but have not yet been named.

On Sunday morning a 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the crash. He was taken to Chatham Police Station for questioning and later released on police bail.

Later the same day a second man, aged 25, was arrested in Enfield, Middlesex. He was being interviewed by police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01622 690690.
