Locals not altogether
happy with tower block plans

Plans for a major revamp of Arlington House, Margate, have gone
on display.

Artists' impressions and plans for the future of the tower block
and surrounding seafront were on show at the exhibition at the
nearby Nayland Rock Hotel.

Designs show a Tesco supermarket, shops and tourist
accommodation. Arlington House would be given an eye-catching new
roof and a smart entrance hall.

A brief for the site was approved by Thanet council in 2008,
after residents voted overwhelmingly in favour of a mix of
residential, retail and commercial opportunities.
