War hero Simon to launch poppy appeal

FALKLANDS hero Simon Weston OBE is to speak at Brompton Barracks in Gillingham on Saturday to launch this year's poppy appeal.

Simon suffered severe burns following the bombing of the Sir Galahad during the Falklands campaign. Now he works tirelessly raising funds for the Royal British Legion and the Royal Star and Garter Home.

He is to speak at a lunch at the Royal Engineers HQ Mess at the barracks, starting at 1pm.
