Met Office issues weather warning for wind along Kent’s south and east coasts - taking in Folkestone, Dover, Deal, Sandwich and parts of Thanet

Weather warnings for parts of the county have been issued for the next two days.

The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for wind along coastal districts throughout Monday and into Tuesday with wind gusts reaching close to 55mph inland but up to 65mph in exposed coastal areas.

The warnings stretch along the entire south and east coast of the county up to and including parts of Thanet.

It warns of spray and high waves along the coastline as well as the potential for disruption to travel and a risk of power outages.

The warnings come into force from 9pm tonight and continue until 9am on Tuesday.

Forecasters brought the warning forward by three hours in an update on Monday morning.

The Met Office adds: “Strong winds are likely to bring hazardous coastal conditions and could cause some inland disruption.”
