What law would you introduce?

A polling station
A polling station

by political editor Paul Francis

The parties have published their manifestos, set out their policy pledges and commitments and the race is under way to get your vote.

And just a few weeks' time, the country will decide who is going to form the next government.

But what would be your first priority for the new government?

We want you to tell us what you think should be the very first piece of legislation the government should pass when it takes charge of running the country.

Is the economy the top priority? What about education? Or perhaps something to do with the NHS? Maybe you think the first priority should be a law on bankers' bonuses.

Perhaps you would like to see a freeze on council tax increases? Or a law to curb fat cat public sector pay?

Perhaps you'd like to see a cut in fuel duty as the first thing the new government does or a move to bring back hunting.

We want to hear your thoughts. Join the debate by clicking on the comments tab below.
