Addicks boss welcomes takeover talk

Alan Pardew says it is a different situation to the one he faced at West Ham

MANAGER Alan Pardew has broken his silence on the takeover speculation surrounding Charlton.

The club's board of directors have hired City football specialists Seymour Pierce to advise on fresh funding options in an effort to safeguard Charlton's long-term future.

Two consortiums are believed to be interested. One is fronted by an African businessman, the other by a Russian. Both have looked at the books.

Pardew is no stranger to the disruption caused by takeover speculation and endured a difficult time during the takeover of West Ham while he was in charge.

He said: "I must focus purely on the team. It was very complicated at West Ham because it involved players. I don't have that scenario at Charlton, so I'm pleased about that.

"What we're talking about is not so much a takeover - rather an investment in the club. So I'm hoping the chairman (Richard Murray) will stay intact.

"All being well, it will not affect us. We welcome extra money and extra investment."
