POISED: Thomas Myhre could play on Boxing Day

Charlton Athletic v Arsenal

GOALKEEPER Thomas Myhre looks set to make his Barclays Premiership debut for Charlton against the might of Thierry Henry and Arsenal on Boxing Day.

Manager Alan Curbishley is preparing to shake-up his side in response to the capitulation in the 3-0 defeat at Wigan.

Myhre, who has extended his contract until June, 2007, could replace Dean Kiely, who was culpable for two of the three goals against Wigan.

The fans' favourite had only just returned to the side having lost his his place earlier in the season to Stephan Andersen after breaking a finger during pre-season training.

Curbishley refuted the suggestion that Kiely was the club's established No 1 goalkeeper.

He said: "I would not say that Dean is the established number one. Stephan Anderson came in and then I took him out because I felt he needed a rest.

"Deano was excellent in the 2-0 win over Sunderland. But Thomas Myhre is another excellent keeper that we have waiting in the wings."

The Boxing Day match against Arsenal at The Valley kicks off at 12.45pm.
