Another promotion the target for Bromley

Bromley v Chelmsford City

BROMLEY manager Billy Smith says his team is aiming for a second successive promotion on the eve of their first Ryman League Premier Division match against Chelmsford City on Saturday.

Bromley beat Horsham in last season's Ryman League Division 1 play-off final, having disposed of tenants Cray Wanderers in the semi-final, but Smith now wants to push for the Nationwide Conference South.

He said: "It’s going to be a tall order, but we want to get promoted again this season. There’s no point in aiming for anything else.

"A lot of our players only came in towards the latter end of last season but most of them have played at a higher level and I am more than confident they can cope."

Bromley’s squad is still quite small but Smith insists he has enough players for a serious challenge.

He said: "Hopefully we will make one or two more signings but if you have too many players then some of them are just there to make up the numbers."
