Blackheath and Bromley Harriers dominated the Kent County Athletics Championships at the Julie Rose Stadium, Ashford, with 69 medals.
The wonderful weather conditions contributed towards 16 new championship best performances and eight athletes recorded double victories, with just one triple Kent title winner this year.
Dan Putnam of Blackheath and Bromley Harriers added the 100m sprint gold to the successful defence of his 200m and 400m titles in the under 17 age group.
James Alaka (Blackheath), the 2007 junior sprints champion, took the senior men’s titles at 100m and 200m after defending champion Gary Carr pulled up with injury in the short sprint.
Femi Owolade kept the vacant junior sprint titles in Blackheath hands with victories in the under 20 men’s’ 100m and 200m finals.
Curtis Griffith-Parker of Cambridge Harriers, competing in the under 20 men’s category, set a new championship best of 54.87 metres with the discus and also comfortably won the shot putt.
Michael Baker of Medway and Maidstone repeated his unusual 2007 double when he won the senior 400m hurdles (52.38) in record time, followed by taking the junior 400m flat (49.15).
