Big names at charity golf tournament

STARS from the worlds of sport and television will gather at Chart Hills Golf Club at Biddenden, near Ashford, to raise money for The Meningitis Trust.

The tournament, which takes place on June 24, is being held at the Nick Faldo designed course and is organised by Derrick Howard.

Derrick’s son, Alex, was struck down with meningitis in 1999, and although he survived, Derrick and his wife Sarah are all too aware how the outcome could have been very different.

As well as non-celebrity teams there will be teams headed by Steve Lovell, the former Gillingham player and Welsh international, John Conteh, the former champion boxer, and Mike McClean, comedian and former Big Breakfast presenter. Other celebrities attending include, Paul Hendy and Oliver Skeete.
