Weekend cricket round-up includes a narrow win for Dartford against The Mote in the Clubbie Cup and a record-equalling performance from Leeds & Broomfield's George Davis

Brin Dhoul starred for Dartford as they claimed a one-run victory over The Mote in the Clubbie Cup.

Defending 187, they bowled the home side out for 186 in the 39th over to clinch the win.

Andrew Martin (41) had top scored for Dartford after they had elected to bat. Tail-enders Dhoul (7) and Callum Lucking (11 not out) crucially moved the score from 164-9 to 187 all out.

In reply, The Mote needed just two more runs to win but lost their final two wickets in successive balls, bowled by Dhoul who completed his five-wicket, haul.

Leeds & Broomfield have opened up a gap at the top of the table, now sitting 11 points ahead of The Mote, after an eight-wicket win over Gravesend.

Batting first, Gravesend were bowled out for 144, Neil Dibben and Edward Scrivens claiming three wickets each.

George Davis claimed a club record-equalling four catches and hit 78 from 49 balls.

In reply, Davis (78) and Scrivens (50 not out) put on 100 runs for the second wicket.

Tunbridge Wells enjoyed a 151-run victory over Holmesdale in a friendly match.

There was a 125-run fourth wicket partnership between Christian Davis (114) and Alexander Williams (72) as Wells posted 338-8.

In the Swale Senior Mini League, Minster 2nds made it two wins from two, beating Bapchild 1sts by 35 runs. Riki Ashwell hit 60 and also helped himself to a couple of wicket as his side then successfully defended 164.

Rodmersham (200-9) beat Faversham, chasing down 198-7, with just one wicket in hand and five balls remaining with Michael Jones scoring 59.

Folkestone bowled out St Lawrence & Highland Court for just 94 runs on their way to a seven-wicket victory in the East Kent NHS Heroes League.

Tristan Niewoudt and Chris Jay both picked up three wickets each. Victory came inside 19 overs, the impressive Jarred Lysaught hitting an unbeaten 32 off 26 balls to guide Folkestone home.

Ben Rutherford’s score of 94 wasn’t enough for Canterbury (223-6) as they went down to a seven-wicket defeat against Division 1 leaders Sandwich Town (226-3).

Broadstairs 1sts got back to winning ways with a six-wicket victory at home to Sandwich 2nds in Division 2.

Electing to bat in sweltering conditions, the visitors were restricted to 207-6 by some disciplined bowling and fielding with Bradley Ellison (2-26), George Kidd (2-23) among the wickets.

Tom Marshall led the reply with an impressive 58, ably supported by Marc Smith (40). A fifth wicket partnership of 85 between Matt Hardy (52 not out) and George Kidd (34 not out) saw the hosts home.

Elliot Lewis and Jake Guinan picked up three wickets apiece as Whitstable (93-2) beat Walmer (92 all out) by six wickets.

Ben Burgess hit an unbeaten 104 for Chestfield 2nds in their 68-run Division 3 victory over Canterbury 2nds.

Opener Simon Taylor retired 100 not out as Ashford Town (239-6) beat Mersham Sports (140-9) by 99 runs in a friendly.

*Minster Cricket Club’s under-22 squad will be hosting Kent’s under-18 Elite Performance Program XI on Tuesday, August 18.

The action starts at 11am and it will be a 50-over match. Supporters are welcome to watch some potential stars of the future.

In addition, next Thursday (August 20), Minster’s 1st XI squad will be hosting The Kent Academy XI in two T20 matches, which promises to be an excellent day of cricket. The first game starts at 10:30am, .
