Broadstairs beaten by the weather

BROADSTAIRS’ attempts to pull away from the foot of the Shepherd Neame Kent League first division were hit by the weather on Saturday as rain halted their match at Canterbury after 36 overs.

Broadstairs had reached 129-4 with Scott Narraway nicely set on 45 not out when the umpires took the players off the field, never to return.

Michael Ross hit 32 with Craig Wretham and Neil Brennan each hitting 21 to help consolidate the innings after Terry Bond had gone for a duck.

Broadstairs remain in the bottom two, just three points ahead of basement side Sibton Park, and on Saturday they host Whitstable, who are two places and 22 points ahead of them in the table.
