Basingstoke Town 2 Dover Athletic 0

Dover Athletic had midfielder Barry Cogan sent-off as their eight-match unbeaten run came to an end with a 2-0 Skrill South defeat at Basingstoke on Saturday.

Cogan was sent-off in the closing stages after retaliating to a bad challenge from Matt Partridge, who was also shown a red card.

Whites made a bright start with Liam Bellamy, replacing the injured Ricky Modeste, firing wide from Tom Murphy’s cross and Sean Raggett heading over.

But they fell behind after 21 minutes when Andrew Jenkinson beat Mitch Walker.

Bellamy curled a long range effort over the bar in the second half as Whites attempted to get back into the game but Basingstoke doubled their advantage nine minutes from time when the unmarked Partridge scored from an Adam Green free-kick.
