The five-handicapper, who plays at Sittingbourne, edged through 2&1 in a tricky tie against Terry Gilland (h11, North Foreland).

He now faces an intruiging clash with former champion Andy Smith (h6, Kings Hill). The game will be played at his home Sittingbourne course.
