Keeper set for Priestfield exit

GILLINGHAM player-of-the-year Jason Brown admitted Saturday’s game against Blackpool could have been his last for the club.

The 23-year-old keeper insisted he wanted to stay at Priestfield but that the situation was out of his hands.

Just days after receiving a full Wales call-up, Brown warned Gillingham that if they didn’t act soon then he would be off.

He said: "I’ve met the chairman three times and the club know where I’m at. It’s a difficult one but I’ve said I want to stay and I don’t know what the club’s doing really and that may well have been my last game.

"My agent has spoken to two clubs that are basically waiting in the wings. I’m settled where I live and I love playing for the club."

Scouts from SPL side Hibernian were at Blackpool to watch Brown but he expressed his desire to stay with Gillingham, providing they can match his terms, which he admits to have already amended.

He said. "I’ve got a family to provide for and that’s all I want to do. We gave them a basic proposal and I’ve even moved on it so it can be done as quickly as possible.

"I’ve put in a proposal of what I feel I’m worth and it’s down to the club and I’d like to think they would make a big effort to keep me."
