Mos' play-off hopes end

Invicta Dynamos' play-off hopes ended on Saturday despite an heroic win at Cardiff.

The Mos fought back from three goals down to win 9-4 but a win for Peterborough over Streatham ended any hopes of making the English League finals.

Saturday’s win was the side’s fourth in a row and head coach Kevin Parrish was delighted with the way they responded to an awful start to the play-off campaign.

"The first two games were awful," said Parrish. "But credit to our guys, they’ve won four in a row and we were only the second team to beat Cardiff at their place.

"There are not many teams in the whole of hockey who could lose their first two games of a six-game play-off and bounce back like the way we did.

"We were missing loads of people for the trip to Cardiff and we were one down after 25 seconds. At 3-0 down I told the boys that Streatham were beating Peterborough and we ended up winning."

Mos needed Streatham to take a win and a draw off Peterborough over the weekend for them to go through but Saturday’s match ended 7-3 in Peterborough’s favour.

"There were a couple of phone calls made before the game and it was clear that there was no way Streatham would do us a favour," said Parrish.

Scorers for Dynamos on Saturday were Grant Baxter, AJ Smith, Anthony Leone (2), Tom Hiscock, Anthony Lennon, Ryan Giles, Elliot Andrews and Peter Carey.

The Mos now face a two-legged ENIHL Cup match against Peterborough this weekend and Parrish is looking forward to the match.

He said: "We’ve had a great end to our play-off campaign and we’ll go to Peterborough on a high."
