Pennock: I owe so much to physios

GILLINGHAM defender Adrian Pennock has praised the club’s physios Ken Steggles and George Johnson for helping him regain fitness following his knee ligament injury at Birmingham in October.

It was feared Pennock's career might be over but a combination of the player’s hard work and guidance from the physios has meant he was able to return to first team action against Watford on the final day of the season.

“Ken and George have done a fantastic job and I can't praise them enough,” said Pennock. “When I do get back on the pitch it will all be down to them."

Meanwhile, the Gills have decided to auction off a place in their squad for next season.

The winner will be officially registered as a Gills player and get a squad number but, unsurprisingly, will not play a game.

Mr Scally said: “Most fans have dreamed of playing for their favourite team. We can't quite offer that, but this is the next best thing."
