MARK STIMSON believes Luis Cumbers has all the attributes needed to make the grade at Gillingham.
The 19-year-old made his full senior debut in the 0-0 draw against Oldham on Tuesday night and Stimson is looking forward to seeing a lot more of him.
Stimson said: “Luis Cumbers is a youngster and they have the enthusiasm and the desire. He showed all that and he got into some good positions.
“His movement at times was good but unfortunately he just didn't receive the ball. He can be proud of his full-debut and I’m sure he'll be involved again.
“The lad had to come off eventually as he was cramping up. It’s great when you can take a player off with cramp because, for me, it shows you that he has worked his socks off.”
Cumbers has enjoyed loan spells at Maidstone and Grays this season but Stimson will wait to see what happens in the transfer window before deciding where the youngster plays for the remainder of the season.
“If we didn't get in anybody else up front then Luis can do a job here,” he said.
“If we got somebody else in, he could go out on-loan but I am not in a rush to loan him out because in training and what he showed against Oldham he deserves to be around the team.”
