Mark Stimson will adopt a different approach to management when Gillingham kick-off their 2008-09 campaign.

The Gills boss was outspoken at times throughout last season and is keen to tone down his ways.

He said: “Last year I sometimes spoke too much. I wanted people to know what I was about.

“I’m an honest person who loves football and I want to achieve at the highest level I can.

“I have learnt lots about myself and other people.

“Last year was different for me. I’ve never been fighting relegation and have always been involved in cup finals or play-offs. I didn’t like it.

“But the boys have put the graft in and will get the rewards they deserve.”
