Twisted knee seals Mos' fate

A THIRD period hampered by injury to new Finnish forward Samuli Mykkanen saw the Invicta Dynamos lose their opening game to Milton Keynes Lightning on Sunday.

The Mos more than matched MK for two thirds of the game, but lack of match practice, a squad that's missing two quality British players and Mykkanen's twisted knee all contrived against the reigning English National Premier League champions.

However, both Invicta new boys gave the fans something to cheer about, with Mykkanen becoming an instant hero scoring on his debut and Michael Wales showing his versatility and putting in a man of the match performance.

All the hype about Lightning looks premature, although they did give the Ice Bowl a glimpse of the potential they have with a third goal of sheer class, passing the puck around the defence as though they were not there.

Former Mos favourite Mikko Skinnari received a warm reception, but did not have his best game and was overshadowed by fellow forwards Greg Owen and Gary Clarke who grabbed all five goals between them.

The visitors went in only one up after the second but without Mykkanen, who did not ice in the third, the lean Mos squad tired and MK added twice more to record a flattering 5-2 scoreline.
