Welling set to sign youngster

WELLING boss Paul Parker is on the verge of making promising Chelmsford youngster George Lay his second summer signing.

Lay has yet to put pen to paper on a deal for next season, but has agreed to move to Park View Road.

The-17-year-old played under Parker at Chelmsford and is tipped to have a bright future in the game. He is a graduate of Chelmsford youth team and has already shown his quality for the Essex club in the Dr Martens League, Premier Division.

He has played representative football for the PASE League and was Chelmsford’s young player of the year last season.

Parker said: “He can play anywhere across the front line. I have known him for five years and gave him his debut at Chelmsford.”
