Fire crews called to Sainsbury's in Romney Place, Maidstone

Firefighters have been responding to reports of a blaze at a busy town centre supermarket.

Crews were called to Sainsbury's in Maidstone at 11.40am and were on the scene within seven minutes.

A fire service spokesman said first reports suggest it was a bush fire.

One engine was sent to the store in Romney Place. Police officers were also called.

Crews left the scene shortly after midday.

The cause is being investigated.
