The Maidstone Studios on Vinters Business Park to reopen with social distancing measures from July

The site where coronavirus was first confirmed in Kent is set to reopen for business next month.

Bosses at the Maidstone Studios have confirmed the site will reopen on July 1 with new social distancing measures in place.

The studios on Vinters Business Park, which is home to around 40 businesses, became Kent's first link to Covid-19 when a worker tested positive on March 1.

An employee at North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT), who worked on the first floor, had returned from a trip to Rome the previous week.

The worker was immediately sent home and the offices deep cleaned.

A week later, a second case emerged with health officials saying this person was connected to the first.

The employees were not in a role where they came into contact with patients.

Perspex screens will be introduced in the galleries and the entire site has been taped to show the two-metre rule.

Hand sanitiser dispensers have been placed throughout and production offices have been reconfigured so people are not sitting face-to-face.

Some of the offices providing essential services have remained open during the pandemic while following government guidelines.
