Maidstone: Long delays in Allington after works on new homes near Beaver Road

There are long delays around Maidstone again this morning as work on a new housing development continues.

Yesterday, traffic police officers had to intervene after temporary lights caused gridlock in Allington.

It comes after transport bosses confirmed work opposite DFS and the Sir Thomas Wyatt pub won't be finished for another six weeks.

This morning queues for Aylesford-bound traffic stretched back to Poplar Grove, with Maidstone-bound motorists left queuing from the M20 roundabout.

Residents have written to Maidstone and Weald MP Helen Grant to complain about the handling of works.
