Happy ending for dog who fled from fireworks in Strood

A sausage dog who ran away after being spooked by fireworks has been found - almost three days after going missing.

Trex the dachshund bolted from a garden in Strood after a loud bang at around 9pm on Saturday.

The little pooch disappeared into the bushes and, despite extensive searches of the area, couldn't be found.

People were being asked to check their gardens, sheds and garages as Trex may have hidden somewhere and got stuck.

The dog's owner, who lives in Snodland, had been staying with her dad and taken Trex into the communal gardens outside his flat.

Trex isn't usually frightened of fireworks but she said a loud bang went off and she ran away.

Speaking on Tuesday morning, Natalie Lee Randall who has been helping the family with their search said: "I cannot believe there has not been a single sighting.

"I was out all day on Sunday and have searched the local street, undergrowths, building sites and holes. I have door knocked and stopped loads of people. Many lovely people have also been door knocking and searching too.

"I have contacted local vets and the PDSA.

"I'm now starting to wonder if someone has found her and is not saying.

"But she could also be stuck somewhere. She could have squeezed into a tight gap and then not been able to get out."

But just a few hours after KentOnline published a story about missing Trex, she was found in a park in Laburnum Road, just a short distance from the communal gardens in Ranscombe Close, where she disappeared.

Natalie described it as "the best news ever", adding: "She is a little shaky and has an injured paw. It seems she may have been stuck somewhere and managed to get out.

"Thank you everyone for your support, sharing and searching."
