Man seriously injured in collision at junction of A2 Watling Street and Featherby Road, Gillingham

A pedestrian remains in hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a van.

The man, whose identity and age have not been released, was hurt yesterday afternoon.

An ambulance crew came across the incident on the A2 Watling Street near its junction with Featherby Road, Gillingham, around 2.30pm.

They called for further back up and another crew and the air ambulance were sent to the scene.

Ambulance service spokesman Rich Airey said: "One person, with potentially serious injuries, was assessed and treated before being taken by road to King's College Hospital in London.

"The air ambulance team joined us in our vehicle to help treat the patient en route to hospital."

The Chatham-bound carriageway was closed for several hours between the junctions with Hoath Way and Ito Way.

Police say no arrests have been made and the investigation into the collision is ongoing.
