An eye witness said: "Two ambulances and three police cars seem to be working on someone in the road.

"They're on the roundabout at the exit towards Hempstead Valley.

"All the traffic is being diverted through Rainham."

A spokesman from the ambulance service said: "At 15.24 we sent two cars and an ambulance to a collision between a man and car at the Bowaters Roundabout on the A2. The air ambulance also responded and took the patient to King’s Hospital in London. "
