Medway's Dr Ranj Singh voted off BBC's Strictly Come Dancing

A TV doctor's Strictly journey has come to an end after he and his partner were booted out of the ballroom by the show's judges.

Medway's Dr Ranj Singh performed a firework-themed Samba with Janette Manrara on Saturday night but the pair found themselves in the dance-off following a public vote.

The couple faced actor Charles Venn and his co-dancer Karen Clifton who won the judges' vote by a score of three to one.

Despite Craig Revel Horwood picking Dr Ranj's routine as his favourite from the two on show, he was shown the exit door and said goodbye to the Strictly ballroom for the final time.

At the end of the show, former Medway Maritime Hospital worker Dr Ranj, who was born in Chatham, said: “I can’t express how much this has meant to me.

"I have made friends for life. I’ve done something that I only could have dreamed of.

"I just want to say to anyone who ever dreams of this you can, you really can, ’cause I’m here and I’ve done it.”

His dance partner Janette Manrara added: “He is an incredible human being for what he does as an actual job. He is there saving children’s lives and he is a special, special man.

"On this show you get to celebrate people that have never done something like this before, and for me Ranj is the epitome of what Strictly Come Dancing is about."
