Southern Counties East round-up: Glebe three points clear with Bearsted victory

Glebe moved three points clear at the top of the Southern Counties East Premier Division.

Jamie Philpott scored in either half in a 2-0 win over a Bearsted side whose defeat was their third in a row.

Second-placed Corinthian lost ground after being held to a goalless draw by Snodland but still have two games in hand.

Deal, whose FA Vase run ended at Lincoln United, are eight points off top spot in third but have seven games in hand on Glebe.

Fifth-placed Erith Town scored twice in the last 10 minutes to win 3-1 at Hollands & Blair.

Blair forward Devonte West cancelled out Harry Taylor’s opener but an Ollie Milton strike was followed by a second for Taylor as the Dockers opened up a three-point cushion over Bearsted in sixth.

Whitstable’s play-off hopes suffered a blow with a shock 4-0 home defeat by Fisher, leaving them five points off the top five.

Lydd bounced back from their midweek defeat by Corinthian with Robbie Dolan, Troy Howard and Sammy Adams on target in the first half of a 3-0 win at Sutton Athletic.

Lordswood’s winning streak ended as they were edged 3-2 at Tunbridge Wells.

Matt Gething gave Lords the lead against his old club but Trevor McCreadie’s double and a Regan Corke goal swung the match Wells’ way before Josh Strouts’ late consolation.

Richard Jimoh scored both goals as VCD beat Rusthall 2-0 while Keninngton halted their losing run by coming from a goal down to win 2-1 at Holmesdale, Ryan Philpott and Harry Linch on target.
