THIS spectacular picture was taken on Sunday by East Kent Mercury reader Argent Carney, from Sandwich, who saw the barn fire from his home.

Firefighters from throughout East Kent were called to the fire in Poulders Road, just outside Sandwich, which was probably started deliberately.

Hay, straw and farm machinery stored inside the barn were destroyed in the blaze, as well as 600 potato bins. Horses inside a nearby building were led to safety.
