The latest suspected arson attack saw firefighters in four engines rush to the scene shortly after 8.30pm.

Police were also sent to the house and it is believed the fire was started deliberately.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “Firefighters rescued a dog from the property.

“One person went to hospital for suspected smoke inhalation and flash burns.”

A police spokesman confirmed the force were called shortly before 9pm to the incident.

“The fire is being treated as suspicious and an investigation into the circumstances is ongoing,” he said.

“A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson and remains in custody while enquiries continue.”

It comes after four vehicles were sent up in flames last week in a separate suspected arson attack about 20.5 miles away in Honfluer Road, Sandwich.

Speaking to KentOnline at the time, Dean Marie, who photographed the damage, said: “It is pretty scary because this is the third time it has happened on this street this year.”

The most recent arson attack is not linked to last week’s incident.
