Paramedics were alerted following reports the man, who was aged in his 80s, had gone into cardiac arrest.

Sadly, despite the efforts of everyone involved, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers from Kent Police arrived shortly before 9am on Tuesday, October 25, and say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Bosses at the golf club declined to comment.

The 149th Open Championship was held at the course last year.
