Silver Audi swallowed up by sea off Minster Shinglebank, Sheppey

Another car has ended up in the drink on Sheppey.

A silver Audi was discovered swallowed up by the sea off Minster Shinglebank.

It was submerged near the same spot a vehicle was taken by the waves in May.

The Audi was reported to Thames Coastguard at about 4am on Saturday and a crew was dispatched.

It was confirmed the car had been abandoned at the shore with no one inside.

Its windows had been left open, causing it to flood on the inside.

Police arranged for it to be removed over the weekend.

In May, a Land Rover Freelander was pulled from the sea off the Shinglebank, while in July, a 4x4 was lost to the waves off Leysdown beach.

James Crane, rescue officer for Sheppey Coastguard, said: “If people are parking cars near the beach they need to be more mindful of when and how far the tide comes in.”
