Becks lords it over The Avenue

WORLD Cup fever has gripped one Sittingbourne family to such an extent that they have raised a life-size tribute to David Beckham over their front door. The Gibsons have made a mannequin of the England football captain and put it on their porch in The Avenue of Remembrance, next to a replica World Cup trophy.

Newly-qualified referee Tim Gibson, 39, said: "We are all football mad in this family. World Cup has gripped both my son and my daughter's boyfriend so we thought we would do something to show our allegiance."

The figure, made from pillows stuffed with carpet roll and a papier mache head, complete with Beckham's latest hair style, is draped in a 1966-style England shirt to help inspire the team on to similar success. The real artistic input came from Tim's 15-year-old son James and 19-year-old daughter Kerry's boyfriend, James Picard, 21, from Sheppey.
